The Ninth Grade Opportunity:
Transforming Schools from the Bottom Up
Schools across the country have found that they have a Ninth Grade Problem. Ninth graders typically have the highest rates of discipline, truancy, failure, and retention. This is a problem; however, authors, Scott Habeeb, Ray Moore, and Alan Seibert, also see it as an opportunity. If schools can successfully transition their freshmen, then in a few short years they can transform an entire school from the bottom up. This is The Ninth Grade Opportunity.
